# Settings

> The Account Settings that shape every note, with defaults and what we recommend.

Sidebar → **Account Settings**. Click **Save Changes** after editing.

## Language and template

| Setting | What it controls | Default | Recommendation |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Transcript Language** | The language the speech engine listens for. | English (US) | Set this before the first visit. For bilingual visits, pick the language most of the conversation is in. English medical terms mixed into another language are fine. One language per account. |
| **Default Note Language** | The language the note is written in. | English | Leave on English unless you chart in another language. |
| **Default Template** | Template pre-selected on each new session. | New Patient Visit | Switch to your most common visit type once you have a custom template. |
| **Default AI Model** | Note style: Balanced, Fast, or Detailed. | Detailed | Detailed for complex visits, Balanced for high-volume days. |
| **Specialty** (set during onboarding) | Injected into every note. Drives what the AI assumes about you. | Your choice | Use **Other** plus the exact sub-specialty if yours is not listed. |

<Warning>
  **Transcript Language** is the setting behind most "the note is in the wrong language" and "the note says the opposite of what I said" reports. Check it first.
</Warning>

## Behavior

| Setting | What it controls | Default | Recommendation |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Show Consent Prompt** | Pop-up before every recording. | On | Keep on unless consent is captured elsewhere. |
| **Preserve Markdown Formatting** | Bold, bullets, and indentation kept when copying. | On | Turn off if your EHR shows stray symbols after paste. |
| **Use Prior Context by Default** | Start each note with the patient's previous visits in context. | Off | Turn on for follow-up heavy practices. |
| **Default Physician Term** / **Default Patient Term** | How the note refers to you and the patient ("Dr.", "Provider", "Client"). | Dr. / Patient | Therapy practices usually want "Client". |

## Retention and audio

| Setting | What it controls | Default | Recommendation |
| - | - | - | - |
| **Automatically delete sessions** + **Delete after … days** | Retention preference, 1 to 90 days. | Off / 90 | Set according to your practice policy. |
| **Enable dictation playback** | Store the audio so you or staff can replay it. | Off | Turn on only if you want playback. You must have patient consent to store audio. |

## Exports

| Setting | What it controls | Default |
| - | - | - |
| **Signature** | Signature image appended to PDF and DOCX exports. | None |
| **Include in exports** | Turns the signature on. | Off |

## PHI Filter

Sidebar → **PHI Filter**. Add keywords (an address, a name) that should never appear in generated notes.

<Note>
  Data retention lives here under your account, not under AI Front Desk. If clicking Settings takes you to Frontdesk settings, open **Account Settings** from the sidebar instead.
